This is a “previous post” query that tries to match the same ‘team’ taxonomy term of the current post, or a post with no ‘team’ taxonomy term set. We deployed code similar to this on a high-traffic site, and it immediately ran into problems due to the MySQL load. Fortunately, we were able to implement an alternative quickly.

I would recommend doing load testing in a test environment if you find yourself needing to use EXISTS or NOT EXISTS.
